We regularly and on request offer great opportunities to get to know our Design & Media department and life as a design student:
DESIGN STUDIEREN
is a weekly series for anyone interested in studying design or applying for our design programmes.
For 13 weeks, the study programmes Interior Design, Media Design, Fashion Design, Product Design, Scenography – Costume – Experimental Design and Visual Communication will take turns introducing themselves. Each programme will also offer portfolio guidance and study counselling as well as a workshop.
We will meet at 2:00 pm in the atrium of the Design Center and start with a tour of our diverse workshops. After that, you will be welcomed by students and a teacher and will take a look at the study programme and find out about the artistic admission procedure. In a subsequent practical exercise, you can express your creativity and have the opportunity to engage in conversation and ask any questions you might have.
If you have already started working on your portfolio or letter of motivation, or have your own work samples, it may be possible for you to hear some constructive criticism. All it takes is courage!

Perhaps you still have questions about the admission procedure or our courses. If so, you are warmly invited to take part in our hybrid event, which will take place on 05 December 2026 as part of Design probieren / Design studieren SPECIAL, either on site or via video conference.
From 11:00 am until 3:00 pm on that day, all the design-related study programmes in the Department of Design and Media will host a practical workshop as well as study counselling and portfolio preparation sessions.

Our university information days HIT, which will take place on 15. and 16. September 2026, and the November of Science, are also great opportunities to see how we work.
Open House
Are you in your job orientation phase, but still aren’t sure what you want to do? At our open house, you can experience how we study and work. Our teachers will open selected courses to you. Pupils in small groups of no more than five people, or individuals, are welcome to participate.

Schoolchildren can ask us these questions, and others, at our information and career-orientation event.
We will give them a look at our workshops and our hands-on design study programmes. Afterwards, we will introduce all our design-related study programmes – Interior Design, Media Design, FASHION: concept. design. communication., Scenography – Costume – Experimental Design, Product Design and Visual Communication as well as Visual Journalism and Documentary Photography – including the content and steps involved in the admission procedure. Upon request, we can also offer school classes a practical workshop.

Our exhibition took place again from 25 to 26 April 2026. Over several days, students from the faculty showed their work and exhibited it throughout the Design Centre at Expo Plaza 2. In addition to the exhibition, various programme items took place, such as guest lectures, workshops, fashion shows and much more.
